SARATOGA YOUTH SYMPHONY
The Saratoga Youth Symphony encourages applications from student musicians of all cultural backgrounds. All interested musicians, new or returning, must audition each season. Acceptance into the SYS is based solely on musical ability as demonstrated at the SYS’s annual auditions. Audition results are sent to each applicant within three weeks after the auditions.
Audition Times:
The SYS will schedule your audition time after the application and fee have been received. Please make sure that you notify the SYS of any conflicts that will affect your audition time. You may indicate these conflicts on the audition application.
Audition Length:
10 minutes
Eligibility Requirements for the Saratoga Youth Symphony:
Auditions are open to students who will be high school seniors or younger. Each student is required to prepare:

One solo piece or movement with contrasting passages at a NYSSMA Level 5 or 6

A two or three octave scale (depending on instrument)

Sight-read a brief orchestral excerpt
Eligibility Requirements for the Saratoga Preparatory Symphony:
Auditions are open to string players who will be high school seniors or younger. Each student is required to prepare:

One solo piece or movement at a NYSSMA Level 3 or 4

Eligibility Requirements for the Saratoga Wind Symphony:
Auditions are open to wind, brass and percussion players who will be high school seniors or younger. Each student is required to prepare:

Tuition and Fees:
A non-refundable $45.00 audition fee is required per musician
Tuition for the season is $ 600.00 per musician
SYS reserves the right to change the tuition rate for the next season
