SARATOGA YOUTH SYMPHONY
Our string orchestra which is called the Preparatory Symphony, provides young student musicians who are at a NYSSMA Level 3 - 4, with their first exposure to string orchestra training in a non-competitive environment. The combination of strings and sometimes adding percussion, makes possible the performance of a variety of orchestral repertoire. Programs include: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic and Modern repertoire. After participating in the Preparatory Symphony, musicians naturally progress into the Saratoga Youth Symphony.
The season includes weekly rehearsals, sectionals and four performances. Rehearsals are from 4:45 - 6:15 on Sunday afternoons.
The music director of the Saratoga Preparatory Symphony is Sue Nazzaro.
